Homemade Hummus

This easy homemade hummus is smooth, creamy, bright with lemon, and ready in just 5 minutes. Made with a handful of simple pantry ingredients, it is the kind of fresh, real-deal dip that makes everything from vegetables to gluten-free pita taste better.

Ingredients
 

  • 1 can chickpeas, 16-ounces, drained
  • ½ garlic clove
  • 3 tablespoons tahini
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • Juice of ½ large lemon or 1 small lemon
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt, to taste
  • 2-4 tablespoons boiling hot water

Instructions
 

  1. Combine all ingredients in a high-speed blender (only use 2 tablespoons of the water) and blend.
  2. Add the remaining water if your hummus is too thick.
  3. Give the hummus a taste. Add more salt or lemon juice if needed.
  4. Blend again until thick and creamy.
  5. Transfer to a container and store in the fridge for 4-5 days.
